Bio

Hi I'm Carly, and I'm a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who specializes in nutritional therapy for Moms.  I have a Bachelor's degree from SUNY Oneonta, and a Master's Degree from SUNY Stony Brook and most importantly a family of my own which is why I am the right person to contact with all of your nutrition questions before, during, and after pregnancy. After 5 years in clinical nutrition, the call to help people who are motivated was calling. I am  passionate about making all foods fit into your lifestyle.  I am committed to forming relationships with patients looking to lose or manage their weight, deal with chronic diseases, and much more. I believe that all women deserve to look and feel their best.  After having my oldest daughter, I did not feel like myself.  Over the past 3 years, I've slowly started to build on the things that I feel create a healthy lifestyle. As we approach my second daughter's first birthday I know that I can get back to a place that I am happy and confident in my skin.

I started a journey with Carly in the fall. I was quite ready to change many behaviors that were not helping me feel healthy, move smoothly and conquer my kitchen tasks with some hopeful direction.
We jumped right in with our weekly conversations addressing topics one by one.
What foods did I like, what meal planning would do to my life. Drinking water nay or yay.
I had developed some habits early in my life that twisted the reality of being healthy. I had not yet learned through years of ‘dieting’ that water consumption was really my friend. It actually makes you feel better to consume, and that it wasn’t a false claim being made by ‘doctors of diet ‘.
We discussed shopping, preparing and enjoying food. There was no discussion of deprivation, what not to eat .
We always moved in a positive direction.
Meal preparation became easier and easier because we talked about what to have on hand to make a good meal.
Next came a fit bit which moved me in an even more productive direction. Managing movement and steps even with a limitation became a motivating factor.
I am a professional ‘dieter’. I thought I knew all the tricks of the trade but Carly broke it down step by step. She helped me face one of my biggest fears not by telling me to do it but by kindly reminding me that knowledge is powerful.
That brought me to stepping on a scale. I did it. I had ignored the numbers by just not learning them.
What happened then was my journey with getting healthy did not revolve around that number .
It was more directly related to how I felt. My BP, my heart rate, my alertness , my fatigue.
Our journey is not over because I am very excited for the future when I can add the component of walking and moving.
I have had to wait for the pandemic weeks of isolation to end to get a tendon repaired. Once that is repaired, I am excited about putting my puzzle pieces together, and continuing along my track of being Healthie.
